French politician insults British policy as "Autistic"
Submitted by vector on Fri, 11/06/2009 - 12:45Apparently, "autistic" is such a common insult in France that minister Pierre Lellouche was surprised that people in England were offended when he used the word to describe a policy he finds stupid:

Time Covers "I Am Autism" Controversy

"We don't want to be portrayed as burdens or objects of fear and pity," insists Ari Ne'eman, president of the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network, a 15-chapter group he built while attending college at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. "Apparently, should my parents divorce, it's all my fault," says Ne'eman, who received a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome, a relatively mild form of autism, at age 12.
I'm not saying Top Chef's Marcel has Asperger's . . .

He never seemed to understand why the other season two top chefs hated him so-- I know that feeling. He seemed more comfortable with things than with people-- I get that. Marcel has problems relating to other people that remind me of problems that mu autism causes me.
