Watch: Parents Talk About Aspergers Diagnosis

Listening to parents of other kids on the spectrum is a great place to start.

 

If your son or daughter has recently been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, please take the time to watch this clip from Coulter Video.  They talk to many parents of kids with AS and get some very helpful advice.  Especially if you have limited access to support groups (or are still working up the courage to go), you will get empathy and very accurate information here.

My only criticism of the video is, I guess, my usual one: the exclusion of adults with autism.  Many people realize when their child is diagnosed with Aspergers that they themselves are somewhere on the autism spectrum.  Including parents with ASD in videos like this would let those people know that they are also not alone.
