Autistic Hero: Artist Christopher Knowles
Christopher Knowles made autism cool back in the bad old days of the 1970s. He was a teenager living in an institution when his work was discovered by theater artist Robert Wilson, who began collaborating with him.
Knowles' best known work is Einstein on the Beach-- the first opera by Philip Glass.
This video starts in very much the same way as the one above but then goes on to talk more about Einstein on the Beach and include exceprts from it.
I am obsessed with Christopher Knowles and his work. My favorite one of his typings is 42 Relationships, which is at the top of this post. He also does paintings and drawings. I created a Pinterest board so that you can look at a lot of his work and see some pictures of him in one place.
