Six-year-old autistic Colt Risher fractured his skull and suffered a concussion at Hillside Learning and Behavior Center in Allergan, Michigan, but staff did not think they needed to call his parents:
School personnel put a note in Colt's backpack and didn't call his parents. Colt was "acting like he was coming down with something" after school, but he doesn't talk much and couldn't tell his parents what happened, Colt's father, Dorsey Risher, said.
It wasn't until around 9 p.m. when Colt's mom looked through his bag and found the note from the school about Colt's injuries that they took the boy to the hospital. The injury happened around 12:30 p.m.
"He should have had medical care way earlier," Dorsey Risher said. "I'm disgusted."
